Lanterns in the night.

Lanterns are one of my favorites things about living in Japan and I photograph them often.  This shot is in Naha near Kokusai Street.

Digiscoping the Moonrise with an iPhone 5s.

Last night my daughter Summer and I broke out the telescope to view the full moon.  She ask me if she could photograph what we were seeing through the eyepiece so she could post it on Instagram.  We took turns with our iPhones snapping away and this is what we came up with.  Best part was the quality time I got to spend with my daughter, priceless.

Seijin no hi, Coming of Age Day in Japan

Today is Seijin no hi (Coming of Age Day) here in Japan, a holiday to celebrate and congratulate those who have turned 20. Yesterday, local and prefectural offices around the country held ceremonies to mark the passage into adulthood, followed by parties with family and friends. Many women celebrate the day by wearing furisode, a style of kimono with long sleeves and zori sandals.

Some men wear traditional attire, while others choose to wear a more modern suit and tie.

Favorite from 2013

I've been going back through the images I've shot this year trying to decide which ones are my favorites and this one is high on the list.  I shot this for a photo essay I did in Okinawa Living called Okinawa at Night.  This image was taken with my favorite camera too my x100 on Kokusai street in Naha.  The rain that night created a wonderful shine on the ground and had stopped long enough for me to grab this shot.

Manza Point

Manza point, or Manzamo as it's called here is one of my favorite spots on the island for great views and photos. Off in the distance you can see Manza Hotel and Resort.

Life-size Cotton Candy

Someone's going to be pinging off the walls soon. :)
