Walking in Roppongi

Walking in Roppongi

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday. Here's a shot I grabbed while walking to the subway in Tokyo. I have many, many more to post so check back often.

Okinawa, Haze - Fuji x100s/TCL-x100

Okinawa's sky is hazy lately from the dust and pollution passing through from China, and it reminded me of this image I shot a couple weeks ago. I was walking along the seawall in Chatan, and I saw this couple trying to soak up what little sun was making it's way through the haze/clouds that day. Times like this when the little bit of extra reach from the teleconverter pays off. Any closer and they would have noticed me and changed the moment. At almost 3:00 pm in the afternoon I was shooting slightly into the sun, pulling some contrast from the shot, but I still like it.

Rainy Day in Tokyo

Not the best of weather on day 2 in Tokyo. Rain, wind, and cold, but when Mother Nature gives you lemons...

Tokyo Street with the iPhone 6 Plus Day 1

Tokyo Street with the iPhone 6 Plus Day 1

We arrived in Tokyo yesterday afternoon, dropped off our stuff at the hotel, and took the train to Shibuya. My daughter wanted to shop at H&M, so while she shopped I shot some street. Coming from small town Okinawa Tokyo, especially Shibuya, is nirvana for street photography, as most big cities are I'm sure. I had my Fuji x100s around my neck, but I've really been wanting to put the iPhone 6 Plus to the test and shoot street with it. At first the light wasn't all that great, but then as we were heading back to Shibuya station the late afternoon sunlight started beaming between the buildings, and suddenly I started seeing photos everywhere.

Living on a tropical island, sunsets are taken for granted. We all notice them, but seldom take the time to stop and enjoy them. The other day I decided I was due for a little sunset therapy, so I drove over to Araha Beach in Chatan. Even though, as always my trusty Fuji x100s was in my bag, I reached for my iPhone 6 Plus. Sometimes it's just more fun to challenge myself and use my iPhone.

Portable Recliner

Portable Recliner

Oh the joy and convenience of being a kid. I love how they have turned their backpacks into their own personal portable recliner while they wait for the crossing lights to change at the intersection. I wonder if they make adult versions of these? :)

Recently my family and I vacation in Tokyo for a few days. If you love street photography Tokyo is complete sensory overload. Everywhere I looked I saw photos.

Lanterns in the night.

Lanterns are one of my favorites things about living in Japan and I photograph them often.  This shot is in Naha near Kokusai Street.
